Resources
Robin Williams’ excellent book entitled The Non-Designers Design Book outlines the C.R.A.P. (Contrast, Repetition, Alignment, Proximity) method of graphic design. I read this book before I designed this website and found it very helpful, and the principles translate well to chart design.
Storytelling with Data by Cole Nussbaumer Knaflic is an excellent resource for crafting a story with data.
If you’re intrigued by data visualization, Alberto Cairo’s books are excellent resources to explore further. You can find more about his work here.
A Washington Post article entitled “Why this National Review global temperature graph is so misleading” was described in the slide deck — you can access the full article here.
The hockey stick chart displayed in the slide deck was published in this report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). It was initially developed by Dr. Michael Mann, a Climate Scientist, and colleagues for this research paper.
